Storage trailer rental

Lessors keep older vans for storage only: they stay parked at your dock or lot and never go on the road.

Short answer

Storage trailers rent for about $15 to $35 a day, usually on long rentals (REPOWR). XTRA, Premier, TEN and Milestone all list storage or shuttle trailers; ask the nearest branch for delivery.

Prepare the site

  1. Find firm, level ground

Landing gear sinks into soft ground. Use pads or plates under the feet on gravel or asphalt in summer heat.

  2. Leave room for the tractor

A 53 ft van plus tractor needs about 70 ft straight in, plus turning room.

  3. Plan steps and lighting

Storage vans sit about 4 ft off the ground. Rent steps or a ramp if people go in and out on foot.

  4. Lock it

Use a high-security lock on the rear doors and a kingpin lock so the trailer cannot be hooked and driven away.

Storage vs dock trailers

Storage trailers often are not road legal for long trips. If you need to move it between sites, ask for a road-ready unit and check its annual inspection date (49 CFR 396.17).

Questions people ask

Can I keep a rented storage trailer at a job site?

Yes, that is what storage rentals are for. Check local zoning or fire rules for parked trailers, and tell the lessor the site address for delivery.
